Question: You guys do realize that a lot of people profit from all the money that's put into the RESEARCH and TREATMENTS for cancer. A cure would ultimately defeat that purpose.
You need to realize, people want money. Lots of money. They can never get enough of it. They want all the money they could get their hands on and they will do anything to obtain it. Money=power.
So with this in mind, don't you think it's possible that whenever someone gets close to discovering a cure, the few powerful elite who own all the big drug companies and profit from all this money that's being put into research, would pay that person off to keep their mouths shut? make an under the table deal with that person to keep the cure a hush hush secret?

No, there is no conspiracy to stop a cure being found, or to hide an existing secret cure. Talk of a conspiracy is a sort of game played by people who have not had or been close to cancer.
Cancer is not a single disease, it's an umbrella term for over 200 different diseases. The difficulty with finding a cure is that different cancers are caused by different things, so no one strategy can prevent them They all respond to different treatments so no one treatment can cure them, so there isn't a magic bullet that cures all cancers and there never will be.
Quite a few cancers CAN already be cured: seven out of ten children are cured of cancer; testicular cancer, Hodgkin's disease, and many cases of leukaemia can all be cured in adults with chemotherapy, most skin cancers are cured with surgery and many cases of thyroid cancer and cancer of the larynx (voice box) are cured with radiotherapy.
Many other types of cancer are also cured if they are found early enough - three quarters (75%) of breast cancers found at stage one for example.
I live in the UK, and I had surgery, chemo and radiotherapy. I paid not one penny for any of it, because we have a national health service - the state pays for treatment. And as you see, we have exactly the same treatments as people in America, whence these conspiracy theories usually come. Cancer costs our government billions; BELIEVE ME, if there were an effective cure, they'd pick that over expensive chemo; as it is I may be back some time with a recurrence to cost them even more money.
