the poor thing, there seems to be a lot of people sick latley, get her to go back and see the doctor or get her mam to do it, get him/her to come out for a house visit, that way you can stay in the room and make sure she doesnt lie to the doc,
you tell the doc what you feel about how she has been, the doc will take it from there,
But reasure your gf that if she has to go hospital that you will look after things at home and tell her not to worry about anything, like kids or bills and stuff, or if it makes her feel better. she could write a list of everything she needs done and go and do it,

she will feel better then about the fact she has to go hospital. (well thats if she has to) and even if she doesnt you should still do everything you can for her k..:)

The reason her cough sounds worse is probably the fact that she is now able to break up secretions and cough them out.

If she has chest pain, fever, or shortness of breath, she should go back to the doctor.

Can I ask her location? We have quite an epidemic here on the East Coast of the U.S.. (New york)

She should go to the doctor. Maybe she just needs some antibiotics for an infection.

That condition is fluid on the lungs and would require antibotics and if is really advanced hospital stay while it clears up. She should see her doctor as soon as possible.

tell her to go back to Dr's i didn't and i ended up in hospital i do feel for your g/f its not nice to have

If she has already done a set of antibiotics and says she feels better, it may be the phlegm and liquid from her lungs that you hear rattling around. With most illnesses, the cough gets worse as the person gets better.

However, if she is still running a moderate fever (100 or above), coughing to the point of vomiting, coughing up blood, vomiting without coughing, feeling too weak to stand/work/etc, or jin general feeling ill, then she should go to the doctor. Pneumonia does not mean an automatic visit to the hospital, but without treatment, it can turn into asthma or other permanent respiratory illnesses.

Just remember, pneumonia takes awhile to get over. I had a mild bout that took two months and three different antibiotics to beat. If you think she's genuinely sick and avoiding the doctor, please get her to go. Otherwise, let her beat this on her own terms.

Only thing I can say is that when I had viral pneumonia in the days when docs made house calls I was a teenager and it hurt like hell as it got better coz the coughing was so bad and my mum called doctor out and he said I was getting better but the cough took ages to go. However nowadays they have nebulizers etc to help so I would suggest that a call to the emergency out of hours doctors would be an idea. They are also more likely to come see you I think as they have a car thing at our hospital anyway!

She must get advice from a doctor about this. She made need more medication.

Well, I had it for three weeks before I went into hospital. I had been given 3 different types of antibiotics during that 3 weeks but got worst. When I went to hospital they gave me a cocktail of intravenous drugs, plus lots of others pills. I was in there a week and slowly got better.
Make her go back to the doctors, no one wants to go to hospital, I certainly didn't, but she will just get weaker if she doesn't get the right treatment and it will take her longer to get well again. Convince her to go.
