Is it a UTI or a kidney infection?!

Question: I have left side pain that pinches only when I urinate, just about every time. This has been going on for about 4 days now. It is not excruciating just pinches.

I drink at least 8 or more glasses of water a day and gave up coffee or tea about 3 weeks ago. I am only 28 and have 2 small kids via c-section. I do not notice any frequency of urination and lately I've also had slight pain in my upper left back, but I believe it is muscular as I hold a very heavy child every day. Help, what is it?

You might be correct in thinking that this pain is muscular in nature and not a pain coming from the urinary system. Kidney pain and pain coming from ureters are usually excrutiating and difficult to keep a comfortable position due to the pain. The fact that it occurs during urination does not necessarily means it is a UTI much less a Kidney Infetion or stones. Coffee and tea are related in a way (they are Xanthines) and both can make you urinate or produce more urine. They do not cause calculi (stones) or UTI. You are doing well in drinking plenty of water. More than that could be too much. Watch your body postures as you lift and carry / hold your babies. If the pain continues, bring it up with your OB because with 2 c-sections theres is a possibility of adhesions (attached soft tissue inside that could be pulling at the bladder. I hope this answered your question.

Doesn't sound like either thing. With a UTI you will feel like you need to pee almost constantly and w/ a kidney infection the pain in your side/back will be pretty bad and not just when you pee.

kidneys!! go to the doctor. it could get serious.

ya it doesnt sound like either to me. ive had both. you should go see your doctor tho. could be important to get checked out.

Back pain can be associated with UTI and kidneys are part of your urinary tract so the infection could have travelled to your kidney goback to the doctor and get ultrasound
