I presume you're referring to HCV. Genotype 2b is a classification of HCV based on the genetic material found in the viral RNA . Genotyping helps determine a person's likely prognosis, type of treatment and duration of treatment and there are several genotypes of HCV -- 11 genotypes and more than 50 subtypes. Type 1 is the most difficult to treat.
