Has anyone had the side effect of Chantix of wanting to hurt other people?!

Question: I was on it for 2 months and 11 months later I'm trying to recover my former life. I have been on at least 5 different anti depression medicines. Is there hope near?

I'm so sorry that you had that terrible side affect ftom the Chantix but it's not uncommon. A close friend of mine tried committing suicide from chantix which is also one of the many bad side-effects..

Anti depressants like lots of other meds can also cause irrational behavioural problems, like those of my friend & yours if not worse :-( If you're still having those thoughts change to yet another anti-depressant.. My Dr gave me different ones for pain but was allergic to all T/G Not saying that you are..

And yes,you will be alright so never give up hope!

Btw,are you still smoking? I am & hate it :-)

Chantix linked to psychiatric problems: FDA
Posted Sat Feb 2, 2008 3:00pm AEDT

The anti-smoking drug Chantix appears increasingly likely to be linked to serious psychiatric problems, including suicide.

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) says after analysing cases of depression, suicidal thoughts and other unusual behaviour in patients on the medication, it has concluded a stronger association with the drug.

About 4 million people in the United States have used Chantix since it was approved by the FDA in 2006.

The company that distributes the drug, Pfizer, has already updated its label to reflect the latest findings.

There is always hope.
Whether it is near or not remains to be seen.
