Hey Craig, this sounds simple, but please try it for awhile. Get some chap stick and use it several times a day covering the edge of your lips well. It sounds like you have "chapped" lips. Do you breathe through your mouth? Smoke?

I've had cold sores my whole life. I know the heartache when you get one of those blisters. Remember, they are blisters. If they break and ooze, the fluid inside can actually infect other areas of your mouth or lips.

The trouble with cold sores is that the medicine dries them up which is what they are supposed to do. But most of us can't leave them alone as they dry up..I mean who likes this crusty thing on their lip? It feels awful and looks worse!!! So we pick at it, makes it bleed, then we dab at it until later when they again get crusty....blah, blah......Well, what we end up doing sometimes is giving ourselves a small scar! And you know the color of scars......red.

So, for now, try keeping moisturizer (chap stick) on the area at all times. Keep those lips moist.

Also, try some hydrocortisone cream 1%. Rub it in until it disappears. Then apply the chapstick. Apply the hydrocortisone cream in the AM and PM. Chap stick anytime you think of it all day.

Good luck to you......I feel for you.....

Also try colloidal silver on it. It can help with scarring and help with any further outbreaks..

Vitalzym X is also great for inflammation and scarring and also has anti-viral effects (herpes is a virus).

I back up EVERTHING she is saying.
