What is pre-diabetes?!

Question: I don't really understand what this is. I found an old Q&A here that it means you have BG issues, does it mean it's not crystal clear to the doctors - that they just don't know and monitor you? If you're prediabetic can you stay that way or does it always evolve into diabetes. Does it evolve into either type or just type 2?

Pre diabetes is also known as insulin resistance. This is caused mainly by being overweight. Your body still produces insulin but the cells are unable to use it properly. It is treated with diabetic medicines, usually a pill. It is totally reversable with diet and exercise. It is a precursor to type 2 diabetes. I was pre diabetic a few years ago and lost 75 lbs. I no longer have this condition. Here is a link to some info on it

It is a step towards Diabetes. I had it and now I have Type 2. The point of that step is for the person to make changes to reverse it.

being prediabetic means basicaly you can reverse your health right now as long as you change your lifestyle,
by treating your body correctly and it will hopefully get back to being balanced
but only if you change your diet and health

if not your going to become diabetic

you have to monitor yourself,
not just be waiting fo rthe docs to help you
and not eat what you usually do and as much and get some exersise
nothing strenuous just some stretching and a jog or whatever

Borderline diabetes is a blood glucose over 5 but under 7 (UK). This means you are not yet defined as being diabetic but you are at real risk of developing it if you do not change lifestyle factors immediately. The doctors would continue to monitor you, they would send you for fasting bloods and monitor your blood glucose at frequent intervals. They would encourage weight loss to prevent going over the diagnostic 7.

This only applies to type 2 diabetes because type 1 is a much more severe form of disease, you are younger when you get it and there's nothing you can do to stop yourself getting it.

Type 2 you're supposed to get as you get older as the pancreas produces less insulin. These days younger people and kids are getting it because of obesity.

Prediabetes is a condition in which your blood sugar level is higher than normal, but not high enough to be classified as type 2 diabetes. Still, the stakes are high. If you have prediabetes, the long-term damage of diabetes
