Question: Symptoms and advice for MTHFR: Methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase!?
My mother was recently diagnosed with this and any information I find online can't be interpreted without a PhD in medical science!. If anybody knows ANYTHING about this, please try and answer the following for me!. I know it's a blood clotting disorder, can be asymptomatic, and is genetic, that's about it!.
What are the symptoms!?
Why is my doctor refusing to test me for it!?
How vital is it that I be tested!?

I'm going to guess that your Dr!. does not want to do gene testing!. My mother has one clotting disorder, and I have a different one!. Neither of us have had gene testing done( though, mine is currently being studied to hopefully identify the gene for my clotting disorder!. The best advice that I could give, is 1!. find a very low estrogen pill, or an alternative method of birth control!. 2!. Learn symptoms of clots!.3!. Live an active and healthy life without alot of stress in thinking about this daily!. Just be aware of the potential!. I am including a link to clotting diseases!. They vary in treatment too, but all are life-long!. ( so far)!. Yes it is a whole new language to learn!. I never had medical training except first aide and CPR but learning all I can to keep myself alive as so many doctors are clueless!.
