Why are so many people allergic to peanuts now as opposed to years past?!

Question: Why are so many people allergic to peanuts now as opposed to years past!?
Answers:
I asked this very same question to my son's allergist when he was diagnosed with a peanut allergy!.
His answer to me and he put it in lay man's terms as this!. In recent decades we have basically erradicated childhood diseases such as measles, mumps, chicken pox!. there are two sides to your immune system, the side that fights the disease and the allergenic side!. When one side is "quieted" the other side gets sensitive!. Hence children are becoming more and more allergic to things like eggs, peanuts, soy, dairy!. Where as they haven't in years past!.
We vaccinate more than we did even when I was a baby 35 years ago!. So it makes sense!.
My 14 month old certainly wasn't trying to get attention after eating his peanut butter sandwich and blowing up like a balloon, drooling, coughing, swelling his airway and subsequently taking an ambulance ride to the ER where he was injected with steroids and epinephrine to save his life!.

I'm know there are a lot of hypochondriacs out there, but for the pp to make a blanket statement that people for the most part are doing this for attention!? Most of these people that are diagnosed with a peanut allergy are children that can't even talk yet!. They get attention by throwing a toy or a tantrum!.
The latest statistics I could find for the U!.S!. is 1 in 50 children are diagnosed with peanut allergies!. Peanut allergies are the second highest food allergy (second to Seafood), but are more dangerous due to the risk of anaphylactic shock!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It's probably the same!. In the past people with those allergies could avoid them and watch their own diet!. There was no reason to suspect that a can of spinach had peanuts!. Today there are so many processed foods that use peanut products it's more difficult to tell!. And for anybody that is allergic to peanuts, it doesn't take a lot to get a serious reaction!. That's why food companies put on the warnings!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Because it has taken a few generations for the entitlement mentality to take root!. More and more people are convincing themselves now due to this ideology that something needs to be wrong so that they may get sympathy or even better yet, money!. Now I know that the folks out there who REALLY do have a peanut allergy have stopped reading and are now typing a response but let me say this, aside from the VERY small number of folks who have this allergy most people fall into the category I described!. Just as the "Placebo effect" can heal some the "Boo hoo whoa is me effect" can get people to believe they are really sick!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Haven't figured out why that is so!. I have never heard of being allergic to peanuts until a few years ago!. Never bothered me!.
After reading Shellynnrn's answer, i will concur with it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I would bet its about the same but through the media and what not that its just more up front now than in the past so it seems that wayWww@Answer-Health@Com

No one really knows why!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It's media hype and people wanting to sue an airline or market!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

In the past people died from their allergies, today, more survive!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
