Question: How can measurements such as ECG be used clinically!? what are the advantages of such measurements!?
Answers:
Wow, what a co-incidence! I've just been studying for my ECG exams!

ECGs are fantastic!. If you have a 12 lead ECG it can tell you soo much about the health of someone's heart!.

Basically ECGs measure the electrical impulses of the heart!. You have 9 electrodes placed on the body: one on each arm, one on the left leg, and six on the chest!.

From these 9 electrodes you can get 12 "leads" created!.

Each lead tells you something different about the heart!.

The ECG can tell you if someone's had a heart attack, is having a heart attack (even where in the heart the attack has occurred), is in atrial fibrillation, ventricular fibrillation, atrial flutter, ventricular tachycardia, has conduction problems in their heat!. If parts of the heart are enlarged!. and so much more!.

The ECG has got to be one of the most useful non-invasive diagnostic tools for cardiovascular health!.

ECG is helpful in the diagnosis of heart disease or the possibilty of a heart attack!. There are actually 10 leads all together (6 on the chest and one on each limb)!. Its called a 12 lead ECG because there are 12 different views of the heart!. Certain leads combined can show a certain portion of the heart (Anterior, posterior, lateral, inferior)!. Variations such as ST elevations or depressions can indicate ischemic changes, which occur during a heart attack!. Other findings include heart blocks which may indicate the need for a pace maker!. I hope this helps!. Feel free to email me if you have any other questions!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

ECG is a very useful aid in the diagnosis of many heart diseases, most important being heart attack!. It is relatively cheap and widely available!. ECG also gives a hint to the level of serum potassium and calcium when it is well beyond the normal range!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
