Fasting Blood Glucose (FBG)
<100 ----> normal
100 to <126 ----->pre-diabetes
126+ ----->diabetes

There is also the oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT!.!.!.140-199)!.!.!.!.both require you to fast overnight!. (Both are equally good!.)

(In the OGTT, a person's blood glucose is measured after a fast and 2 hours after drinking a glucose-rich beverage!. Normal blood glucose is below 140 mg/dl 2 hours after the drink!. In pre-diabetes, the 2-hour blood glucose is 140 to 199 mg/dl!. If the 2-hour blood glucose rises to 200 mg/dl or above, a person has diabetes!.)

Pre-diabetes is the same as impaired glucose tolerance or impaired fasting glucose!. "Before people develop type 2 diabetes, they almost always have "pre-diabetes" -- blood glucose levels that are higher than normal but not yet high enough to be diagnosed as diabetes!. There are 54 million people in the United States who have pre-diabetes!. Recent research has shown that some long-term damage to the body, especially the heart and circulatory system, may already be occurring during pre-diabetes!.

Research has also shown that if you take action to manage your blood glucose when you have pre-diabetes, you can delay or prevent type 2 diabetes from ever developing!."

What is the treatment for pre-diabetes!?
A: Treatment consists of losing a modest amount of weight (5-10 percent of total body weight) through diet and moderate exercise, such as walking, 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week!. Don't worry if you can't get to your ideal body weight!. A loss of just 10 to 15 pounds can make a huge difference!. (If you have pre-diabetes, you are at a 50 percent increased risk for heart disease or stroke, so your doctor may wish to treat or counsel you about cardiovascular risk factors, such as tobacco use, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol!.)

Normal is the same for everyone regardless of age!. Normal blood sugar before you eat anything in the morning is under 100!. So yours was a tiny bit high but not high enough to count as diabetes!. What did the doctor say regarding your blood sugar!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

hmm!. you need to have other symptoms and you do not mention them!. just a meter reading does not mean anything for sure!.
this '105' is from how long after you ate!? do you have other symptoms!?
the number you quote is a tad high, but many things could be happening/effecting it!. normal would be 70-100 but every one is different, eh!?

talk with your school nurse!.

and here is a link to the American Diabetes site!. lots of info there!.

just some thoughts!. be well!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It sounds good!. Was it before or after a meal !?!?!? You should check 2 hours after a meal!. 100 to 140 is ok!. I got this number from a chart I received at a diabetic class!.!. If you don't have any symptoms of diabetes, I would not worry!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
