Bleeding normally stops within 1 to 9 minutes!. However, values may vary from lab to lab!. Longer-than-normal bleeding time may be due to - Blood vessel defect!. Platelet aggregation!. Thrombocytopenia!. Thrombocytopenia refers to the decrease in number of a type of blood cells called platelets!. Platelets help in blood coagulation!. So when their number decreases the bleeding takes a longer time to stop!. The decrease in the number of platelet cells could be due to many reasons, which your doctor will/should go through with you!. With regard to the MRI, it will likely be to check for any growth in the gland and / or the brain!. Pituitary tumours are the most common types of all brain tumours!. Usually most of them are benign and do not spread!. They are also known as adenomas!. Surgery is the most common treatment but there are other options as well!. You would be advised to await the outcome of the various tests and try not to be concerned!. Your doctor will inform you of the result and if any treatment is required!.

Hope this helps

The bleed time test is not one that is easy to perform and is often difficult to interpret unless by a very skilled specialist!. I had to have one done over as the Dr!. felt that the incision was not the proper size!. Twice in one day was not fun, but I hope you find answers!. It sounds as if your Doctor is covering all bases!. That's a good thing!. Good luck! I clot and bleed due to autoimmune disease!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It sounds like he thinks somethings wrong with you, but has no idea what, thus he starts with a broad range of test to help narrow down some of the ideas!. What did you tell him that your symptoms were!? Thin blood is a symptom of a host of problems!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
