So I got my hemoglobin A1C, and it was 5!.2 it says it is normal and 6!.0 is a diabetic!. My parents looked at it and agreed isnt that number a lil close though!. I mean 5!.2 doesnt make me breath easy if its 6!.0 meaning diabetic!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
5!.2 is normal you should have nothing to worry about; just try to keep your levels constant and make sure you don't eat too much sugar or become overwieght, that will lessen your chance of getting diabetes but you will be fine with 5!.2!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It is important to know that different labs measure A1C levels in different ways!. If you sent one sample of your blood to four different labs, you might get back four different test results!.

For example, an 8 at one lab might mean that blood glucose levels have been in the near-normal range!. At a second lab, a 9 might be a sign that, on average, blood glucose was high!. This doesn't mean that any of the results are wrong!. It does mean that what your results say depends on the way the lab does the test!.

Talk to your doctor about your A1C test results!. Know that if you change doctors or your doctor changes labs, your test numbers may need to be "read" differently!.

If your results say you are within the normal range, then you should believe what the lab says regarding the parameters THEY use!. If in doubt!.!.!.see another DrWww@Answer-Health@Com

Under 6!.0 is nothing to worry about!. That means you are 100% not diabetic, and you have nothing to worry about!.

6!.0 - 6!.9 generally represents a diabetic with good control!.

Over 7!.0 generally means that medication or meal plans need to be either tweaked or totally altered to achieve better control!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If your A1C was over 6!.0, then you could potentially have diabetes!.

"Experts agree that a normal A1c for someone without diabetes is between 4%-6%; anything above that should be considered a sign of diabetes!. "

5!.2 is a good number, be happy!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

To the best of my knowlege, 5!.2 is lower than average!. And I don't think 6 is diabetic!. Those numbers are supposed to tell you your average blood sugar levels over the past 3 months!. An A1C of 6 = 120 mg/dl, which is not the average blood sugar reading of a diabetic, at all!. Here's a link with the chart, if you're interested:
