Welcome in from the land of DeNile!!! Ignoring the fact that your mom is diabetic and that fact alone gives you a 20% better chance of getting this condition doesn't help!

Sugar and sodas DO NOT cause diabetes, but don't help either!. Food planning should start with eliminating all starchy foods from your plate!.

Starchy foods include: cereals, breads, rices, pastas, any other grain product, carrots, corn, potatoes, peas, dried beans/lentils, most milk products, soft sweet fruits, and some other root veggies! These are all high carb count foods that do us no favors at all!.

As soon as you get your insurance, check the conditional date!. As soon as you get past this date, have an appointment with a doctor for a complete physical including blood analysis!.

You may be able to bring down the glucose counts considerably by following the Atkins or South Beach LIving food plans, eliminating all higher carb foods!. But this takes lots of dedication to detail!.

Also get thee onto an exercise plan!! If nothing else Walk! walk for an hour every day as fast as you can!. No holidays or Sundays off!

If you start now changing your lifestyle, you may have normalized your glucose counts by the time you have insurance and the trial period on it is past!. Then it will be just a matter of follow up visits to the doctor for blood analysis to keep it there for a long period of time!.

Yes!!! the numbness is glucose connected!. No law says it has to be a toe or finger first!! Mine was a knee that sent me to the doctor!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Despite long intervals between meals or the occasional consumption of meals with a substantial carb load, human blood glucose levels normally remain within a remarkably narrow range!. In most humans this varies from about 80 mg/dl to perhaps 120 mg/dl (3!.9 to 6!.0 mmol/litre) except shortly after eating when the blood glucose level rises temporarily (up to 140 mg/dl in a non-diabetic)!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

your mom was diagnosed with diabetes, then I suggest you go and get your blood work done so that you can have some peace of mind or treat a possible illness!. There's no sense in fear mongering!.
What's worse, the needle or not knowing!? Just look the other way and if you have a great technician you won't feel a thing!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

yes, that actually is high!. You need to get tested right away!. Diabetes is nothing to play with!. It can hurt you very badly and even kill you!. If you don't have insurance, you need to go to the hospital or go to an income based clinic if you have one in your area!. Not trying to scare you, just trying to get you to realize how serious this is!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yeah that's high!. If your fasting sugar is >126 on 2 occasions you can be diagnosed with DM!. Any fasting sugar over 200 also qualifies!. I think you need to be fasting for 12hrs though, so your example isn't that reliable!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You have a history of Diabetes in your family and thats not good!. If you have all the symptoms then you should go see yuor doctor and have her give you a fasting A1c!. This will tell you if you have diabetes or not!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

my best friend is a diabetic and she says normal range is between 80 and 180!.

158 what!? what units are you measuring in!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Stress and illness can raise your blood sugar!. 158 is high!. Normal after a 6 hour food fast is 90-100!.
138 is also high 2 or more hours after eating!. Both numbers indicate trouble handling blood sugar!. A lot of flu drugs have sugar in them!.
Two blood sugars over 130 more than 6 hours after eating, like taken in the morning before breakfast, indicates diabetes!. Over 120 means pre diabetic!.
In either case you are doing damage to your insides, irreversibly damage that you may not notice for years!.
Get yourself checked out!. Get a HbA1c test!. If you can't afford the doctor yet go to a major pharmacy!. Many offer the test for $25!. If your numbers, in the US, are above 7 you are diabetic and better get treatment or instructions on diet and exercise, fast!. If you are above 6 you are still in danger!. Normal is 5 or belowWww@Answer-Health@Com
