What do I have to expect?!

Question: What do I have to expect!?
I have just been asked to fly home to be a possible bone marrow transplant to my cousin, we share blood on both sides, his dad, is my maternal uncle and his mum is my paternal aunt!. I haven't had much info , I didn't even know he was sick! And we aren't close!. I'm terrified and I know it sounds selfish but I really don't want to do it! What are the chances of us NOT being a match!? And if I do it, what kind of a procedure am I looking at, and how long will it take and how will I feel after!. I know this sounds selfish but I have a job I can't afford to lose!. and it's been sprung on me so quickly I'm really worried
Can any one give me any kind of help!.
Thank youWww@Answer-Health@Com

Thats got a good description of what the operation will be like, i hope it helps!
and remember, you will be saving a life!
Talk to your boss, i'm sure he will understand!. Maybe someone in his or her family has had to get a bone marrow transplant!.
When you donate, you save a life!.

You can have blood work done to see if you are a good match without flying home for the tests!. Your doctor can send the results of the testing to your cousin's doctor to determine if there are enough matches before you make any decisions on whether you want to do it or not!. Just because you are related doesn't mean you will have close enough blood to make a marrow transplant successful!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You ask some very important questions because there is always a fear of the unknown!. A friwnd of mine was tested as a possible bone marrow donor several years ago!. Back then she described the procedure as painful but that was several years ago and like most things medical procedures change and improve over time!. What I would suggest is to get on the internet and research all of the questions that you have, Its amazing the information that is available!. Good Luck:)Www@Answer-Health@Com

Saving a life should be the priority in everybody's life but at the same time, can't just leave your bread and butter, but you can talk to your boss!.

No boss is so bad that will not let you go for this noble work!.

And I am sure if you go and help your Cousin , you will have a wonderful feeling throughout your life that you did something great!.

just explain to your job that you've got to go home for a family reason, they'll listen!.

if you're not a match, then you'll just have to keep looking!.

they'll be okay with it, i promise; and theres nothing that will affect your health with a bone marrow transplant; all it is, that your cousin cant produce any healthy bone marrow and you can!.

i hope your cousin gets better, and i hope you're a match!.

good luck! xxxxWww@Answer-Health@Com

Let's see!. The cousin needs a bone marrow transplant!. He could die without it!. However, you are afraid (likely irrationally) of losing your job simply to be tested for compatibility!.

Wow!. I wouldn't want your karma!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

tell
him your sorry and yo
u don't wanna do itWww@Answer-Health@Com

its not selfish at all!.!.!.!. he is ur cousin, not mom or dad!.!.!. i do hope he is fine, and get best possible health, but what so ever is gonna happen, the world will keep on moving on!.
so u should just keep him in ur thoughts with all hopes, and prays, but not at the stake of ur job etc!. bcoz ur presence (apparently ) wont do anything +ve or -ve to him!.
just if u wish him good or pray good for him, its as equal as rest of thing!.
my advice to u , is not to lose ur job!. bcoz what so ever is gonna happen, it will be tuff to get u back to ur life!.
best wishes for his health,
regards

You need to do the right thing !. !. and you know it !. !. if you have any respect for life and family there would be no question in your mind!. Go be tested and if you turn out to be a match !. !. do what you would want your cousin to do for you if the situation was reversed !. !. give him your marrow!. It may not be enough !. !. he may die anyway !. !.but at least you would be able to lift your head up high and know you gave your best!. Any other response will only bring you shame!. Tell your boss what is going on and that you will need that time to save a life!. The benefit may not be clear to you know !. !. but you will earn the highest respect from your boss for what you want to do !. !. and your family will be proud of your contribution!.

Do what is right!.

Taking marrow from a donor is called an allograft!. It's done in an operating room, and the donor is put under general anesthesia!. The marrow is removed from the top of the hip bone!. The marrow then gets filtered, and treated, and is transplanted into the recipient by IV!. It's pain-free for the donor during time of removal!. After that discomfort is normal, but the recovery time is not long!. Donation wouldn't affect a possible donor enough to lose a job!. You will not feel ill (except maybe nausea as a side affect from being under general anesthesia, but this will dissapate quickly)!. Your hip will be sore, and there will be an incision, but you won't be out from work for an absurdly long time!. I'm certain your employer will give you the necessary time off!. It can be a life-saving procedure!. You should call your cousins doctor, and ask what to expect, as well as googling "bone marrow transplant" or "allograft"!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
