Although it's not clear-cut, there does appear to be an increased risk that MS can be passed on genetically!.

Take a look at the following page, and if you're still concerned ask if your GP (doctor) can refer you on for genetic counselling [counseling, if you're American]!.

I wish your boyfriend, and his father, the very best of luck in determining whether he may be at risk!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Heredity!. Multiple sclerosis is more common in people of Northern European descent!. There also appears to be a genetic component to the condition, although it's not strictly inherited!. Researchers suspect that the tendency to develop MS is inherited, but the disease manifests itself only when environmental triggers are present!.

My dad has it but all five of us kids do not, we are not young!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I was reading about MS recently and found a link with solvent exposure in the workplace and sweetners such as Aspartanes that degrade into formaldehydes in the body!.

I thought it was particularly interesting that avoiding these substances stopped the progression of the disease, but unfortunately doesn't revert changes!. I cannot find the link I'm afraid but interesting none the less!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

There is no evidence that it is genetic, however it is more common among people who have a family member with MS!.

Last time I read anything on it, the thinking was that that increased risk was due to exposure to similar conditions and potential risk factors!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

yes!.!.my friends mum has it and now my friend has it!.!.!. she had to go to hospital because something happened to her brain because of MS and her mom used to be able to walk but then she started slowing down then next thing i knew she has to be in a wheel chairWww@Answer-Health@Com

There is an increased risk if it is in his family but it isn't hereditary , meaning there is every chance he won't have it!. My partner has MS but his brother doesn't so try not to worry!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
