Genetics plays a part in diabetes, that is, it is in the genes of heredity in some families!. If you have had several high blood sugar readings, it is usually a sign that you are on the road to having diabetes!.
Besides genetics, being overweight, lack of exercise, or other factors play into the whole picture of diabetes!. It is best to see your Dr!. again, have a blood test and listen to what your Dr!. tells you!. This is very important, as with all diseases, to listen what your Dr's!. advice!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Your grandfather probably has Type II diabetes, which accounts for 90% of the cases of diabetes mellitus in the country (diabetes mellitus literally means "sweet urine;" these are the types of diabetes associated with high blood sugar)!. Type II diabetes tends to run in families and in certain ethnic groups, however the risk factors for developing the disease also run in families; just because your grandfather has it certainly doesn't mean you will get it!. In Type II diabetes, your insulin receptors stop recognizing insulin (a protein necessary for glucose uptake by the cells)!. High blood sugar is a risk factor for developing Type II diabetes, but so are being overweight, having a sedentary lifestyle, smoking, being over 40, and being Hispanic, just for some examples!. The best thing you can do to prevent getting the disease is to eat relatively healthy and exercise often (which we should all be doing anyway!)Www@Answer-Health@Com
yes, but you could get it even if your grandfather doesnt have it!. Its a problem with your insulin levels!. the most common is an insulin resistance!. You can develop this by consuming large amounts of high glycemic index carbohydrates for a long time!. These include things like sugar and white bread!. Your body releases insulin to clear the sugar out of your blood, but everytime it does your body becomes slightly more immune to the effects of the insulin until it wont work any longer to remove the sugarWww@Answer-Health@Com
