I live in Texas!. My friends monther who is in her 50's is on life support at the hospital!. She had a severe brain aneurism!. the hospital tells my friend that they may preform an autopsy on her after they pull the plug!. can they do this when they already determined an brain aneurism was the problem!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Yes!. However, it is your right to object to an autopsy!. Generally, the only reason they will insist on an autopsy is if they suspect foul play OR if the cause of death is unusual!. Brain aneurism in a 50 year old woman is unusual enough that they may want to study the "why" of it, but common enough to not arouse suspicion!.

However, tell her to object to an autopsy!. If you site religious reasons, then they may not do an autopsy without strong evidence of foul play!. It is within your right to refuse!. I know for a fact that it is my mother's wish to NOT be autopsied!. She says that even if she's murdered or dies under suspicious circumstance, she does not want her body mutilated!. She also wants to be cremated!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
