Generally, we do not diagnose infants with Asthma, it is very difficult to assess that in children less than 5 years !.!.!.

The mechanics of a baby's lungs also complicate the diagnosis of asthma !.!.!. Infants' airways are small, when a baby gets a respiratory tract infection, these already small passages get swollen and filled with mucus much more easily than an older child's !.!.!. this can lead to coughing, wheezing, and other symptoms of asthma (even if it is not asthma, but just a viral infection)!.

One common condition that mimics asthma in infants is bronchiolitis, which is usually caused by a viral infection, most commonly respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) !.!.!. the infection affects the tiny airways called bronchioles !.!. the airways swell, making it difficult for a child to breathe !.!.!. infants are often affected because their airways are so small that they become blocked more easily than those of older kids or adults!.

It's also difficult to accurately measure babies' lung function (how well they breathe) !.!.!. older kids are better able to cooperate with lung function tests (peak flow), which often involve taking a deep breath and blowing out as fast as the child can!. This type of testing may show asthmatic changes in the lungs!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

There are no blood tests, and asthma will not always show up on an x-ray!. Asthma is an acute disease, meaning that the only time your child's x-ray may demonstrate asthma is when your child is actually having an attack!. While the child is not suffering an acute attack, their lungs would look perfectly normal on an x-ray!. Asthma is diagnosed based on symptoms (wheezing, shortness of breath) and ideally a pulmonary function test (PFT)!. A true PFT, however, would be impossible to perform on such a young child!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Do not bother!. Take second opinion!. Your problem is solved!. At that age, due to so many factors, the doctors, diagnose even simple respiratory tract inflammation or contraction as asthma!.

Better meet a pulmonologist(lung specialist) and a pediatrician!.

Do not worry!. When the child at that age gets cold or flu or due to bad weather or dusty atmosphere, the respiratory tract gets contracted!. The child is too young and the immune system might have not developed fully, might take some more time to develop, hence, the child gets asthama attack!.
Take care!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It's not a thing in the blood or in X-ray!.

It's a problem with the lungs but it isn't normally physical!. During an asthma attack, you may see changes in a x-ray, but not in general!.

Most babies these days get diagonized with asthma and most of them grow out of it- they're just really childhood sniffles!. My brother was diagonized as a baby and never had an attack, just sniffles and coughs that an inhaler helped- now, he doesn't even have an inhaler!

If the child has only been diagonized when sick with breathing problems already, I wouldn't read too much into it!. Since you're already under doctor's care, I would advise asking them to confirm it in some way next time you go and see them- but normally the only way to diagonize is if the child has constant asthma symptoms (coughing, breathlessness, wheezing etc!.) and an attack of some sort!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Your baby will most probably grow out of this condition, as it is common!.
If your baby needs tests , it is usually done by a LFT (lung function test), no blood or xray will show up Asthma at this age!.
It is also true for Asthma to only flare up with a cold or chest infection and also excercise!
Please do not smoke in front of your baby, this wll promote further Asthma too!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
