Is this common amongst asthmatics?!

Question: Is this common amongst asthmatics!?
I've been having frequent attacks the past few days!. I can feel the attack coming on b/c my chest gets really sore! When it hits, I gasp and wheeze like crazy!. I will take my inhaler but it seems as if the attack has to work it's way out of my system until I start to feel the relief from the inhaler!. Like it will hits its peak and then die down!. I feel quite relieved when it's over!. However, once a bit of time passes (sometimes minutes, sometimes hours) another attack hits full force again!.

Is it common to have repeated attacks like that - even minutes after one has died down!?

Also - is it common to have to suffer thru the attack, have it hits its peak and then die down, until you find relief!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Anytime your symptoms are not being controlled (i!.e!. using your rescue inhaler more than twice a week) you should see your asthma specialist!. If you don't have an asthma specialist, find one!. I am a severe asthmatic who requires a good bit of hospitalization, and I can tell you that when I start having a series of "small attacks" I will have a major attack unless I go to the doctor and usually get some steroids and stronger breathing treatments!. Also, there are many many controller medicines out there and what works for me may not work for you!. I know several people who take one controller for a while then seem to get used to it and have to change!. Again, the only person who can really help you evaluate what to do is an asthma specialist!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

What inhaler are you on!? I think you need to go and consult a respiratory specialist to get your asthma re-evaluated!. You might need a corticosteroid inhaler from your doctor!. Maybe advair/seretide!. Your blue bronchodilator only provides relief and will not reduce your swelling and inflammation!. (advair/seretide) will help!.

well i dont see that you are taking a prevental medicine besides singulair which isn't really that strong!. i would go to your doctor and tell him that you need to be put on a prevental!. your asthma is obviously worse then your doctor thinks it is!. If you have insurance i would defiantly suggest adviar to your doctor!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hi,

I think you are going about this the wrong way!. Ventolin inhalers will only give you short term relief and its not the way asthma is treated these days!.

You need to go to your Dr and get a written asthma management plan!. This will have instructions for you to follow when you have an attack!. Are you checking your peak flows!? These would let you know if you are in for an attack so that you can adapt your treatment before not after!. The plan will also let you know when you need to go to hospital or adjust your medications!.

You are putting yourself in danger here and not taking your asthma seriously, lot of people die from asthma every year and these deaths can be prevented!.

You need to get on a preventative inhaler like Seretide and if you are on the correct treatment you will won't need as much ventolin!. Please see your Dr as soon as you can to discuss your options!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
