Vitamin B12 deficiency!
Question: Vitamin B12 deficiency
I've just had a B12 blood test which has just come back within normal lab range!. Result should be beween 197 & 866, mine was 203 which does seem low!. I note that different labs use different ranges!. I have the result as I'm the secretary at my Drs practice but he's away til Tuesday!. Will I need treatment for this do you think!? If anyone has been getting treatment what was the level when you started treatment!?

If this is within the lab normal you don't need any treatment!. It would be a good idea to have your intrinsic factor and parietal cell antibodies checked to exclude pernicious anaemia and provided these are normal have the B12 level checked again in 3 to 6 months!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
B12 is in our diets mainly from eating meat!. It is not produced from meat but rather the bacteria that grow on the meat!. (yes really) It's the only nutrient (as far as i know from personally being a vegetarian) we can't get from plants!. Have you been cutting back on meat!? If so you should get a B-12 vitamin, mine are sublingual and tiny!. From what i hear- and i'm not a doctor- you can more than the RDA (within reason) and kinda 'store' it in your body so you don't have to take it EVERYday!. But really if you are in range why worry!? Well technically you're within normal range even though its on the lower range of the norm!. I would assume that treatment is given to those who are below 197 and above 866 which would be considered the treatable range according to that labs ranges!. I suggest you wait till the Doctor gets back and check with him!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
vitamin b12 is to do with folic acid , ask your dr 1st about it,
before you, do anything else!. see what they say !.

You may not need treatment however by eating more of the Vit B12 sources you will raise your levels!. This includes, meat, dairy products and eggs!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
its not low, its in normal range!. if it was below 197 it would be low!. no treatment!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
