I have heard that it hurts men more.......it feels similar to a woman having a baby......but women do that everyday......so we are OK with it......YES, it hurts........
Seriously, I have worked in the medical field for years....and when either a man or woman comes in with a kidney stone, the first thing they do is give them pain medication and Phenergan (to control nausea) generally IV.....especially if they have had a history of kidney stones.....if they have not had a history of stones, as soon as they diagnose them, they give them medication.....They are very, very painful......However, they are not very big.......but THEY HURT!!!!!!
If you have one.....get to the doctor....they can get lodged in the urethra (tube that urine goes through) and then you could have to have surgery to get it removed......
