Question: Why is there a link between obesity and DM Type2!?
My question is why after loosing weight does the body still have problems processing sugar!. What did te obseity damage!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Obesity, of course, adds fat cells!.

EVERY cell in your body needs "fuel" (glucose), so adding fat cells requires more glucose to keep them alive!.

But in order for the glucose to leave the blood and enter the cell, insulin is required!. But with too many fat cells, the pancreas cannot produce enough insulin to supply ALL the cells!. So the sugar builds up in the blood stream -- diabetes!.

Now, this doesn't happen in everybody!. There are some really obese people who are NOT diabetic!. And reduction or failure of the pancreas can occur earlier, so some perfectly normal sized people are diabetic!. In fact, the pancreas can fail in childhood, resulting in Type 1 Diabetes!.

However, in normal operation the body WILL return to normal after losing weight!. But if the patient has been overweight for too long, the pancreas is damaged (overworked) and thus does not return to normal!.

To start with, less than half of all type 2 diabetics are overweight!. Most lose weight before being diagnosed with having type 2!. Even if a person that has type 2 is overweight, they will still have the disease if they lose all the weight they need to!. Diabetes is NOT caused by being overweight!. It is caused by the pancreas not functioning right!. No one knows for sure what causes diabetes of either kind!. There are only theories!. In type 1, they believe that a virus damages the pancreas at some point in time!. With type 2, they simply are not sure!. They have done so many clinical tests and none have come back conclusive!. As for the weight, type 2 itself can cause weight gain in some people!. Most of the time type 2 starts out as insulin resistance!. This is when the pancreas is making lots of insulin, but the body is not using it correctly, and the pancreas, thinking the body needs more insulin, continues to produce lots of it!. Later in life, the pancreas gets tired and worn, and is unable to keep up with the body, and is now not producing enough insulin!. Obseity did not do damage to the pancreas!. And the diabetes will NOT just go away once the person loses weight!. This is something that many people do not understand, and many have gotten wrong information some where along the line!. Once you have either type of diabetes, you have it for life!. It does not go away!. It can be controlled, but not reversed, or eliminated!. Some type 2 diabetics can actually control their disease with diet and exercise for many years!. But diabetes is a progressive disease, and these people usually end up taking medicatlions later in life!. My diabetes educator has so many people that come into her classes believing that their diabetes will just go away if they eat right!. Yes, like I said, some type 2 diabetics can control the disease with no medicatlions IF they watch their diet and get lots of exercise!. But as soon as they get lazy and start to get away from the diet, they have all the symptoms they had when they were diagnosed!. Please don't listen to those that tell you type 2 is curable or that you can reverse it!. These people are so wrong!. I have had type 2 for 16 years!. I went from being insulin resistant to the point where my pancreas is no longer making insulin!. I was also able to control my diabetes with diet and exercise!. I have been from point A to point Z!. I now take insulin!. It is not because of anything I did or did not do, it is not my fault!. It is simply that the disease progresses and we have no control over that!. All we can do is try to keep our blood sugar levels where they should be as well as we can by any means we can!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I don't know the answer to your question!. However, not all people who lose weight still have problems with insulin and such!. There have been studies in which people do not need diabetes medications after losing weight!.
In my personal experience, my mom was diagnosed with type 2, then lost a lot of weight and got active and regained normal glucose levels without medication!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
