Is it hard to breathe when you have Preeclampsia?!

Question: Is it hard to breathe when you have Preeclampsia!?
I went to the doctor two days ago!. She is going to see me again tomorrow to decide if I need to be induced (I'm 38 weeks along)!.!.!.

My bp at the time was around 157/91 and I've been gaining about a lb everyday for a week and a half now!.
I also have asthma!.

Over the last few days I have had a hard time breathing, I just feel like I ran a marathon but haven't!.!.!.!.

Is this a sign it is getting worse!. I don't think I need a hospital but should I call today and ask my nurse!? What does the labored breathing mean!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Don't know, but it's precisely to be expected, because your BP increase is the result of the heart trying to increase circulation!.

For this to be the case it has sensed that "supply" isn't meeting "demand" ,or more simply, while cardiac output may (or may not) be adequate, the pressure gradient causing it to flow round the vascular loop appears to be insufficient!.Hence the need for it to raise the effective driving pressure ("Mean Pressure")

Now, if your total systemic arterial flow is deficient, this affects all organs and will result in "shortness of breath", -or the need to breathe more heavily, -which is exactly the symptom you describe!. Your automatic reaction is to breathe harder and faster, to oxygenate the circulating blood!.

With your doctor's approval, mild oxygen inhalation would help with the symptom obviously,, and possibly delay (or remove, even) the need for inducing!.

BUT - this may be difficult, but DO resist all attempts to give you beta-blockers!. These slow down your pulse rate, and increase your systolic pressure even more, as well as making it yet harder for your heart to cope with insufficient oxygen supply to your organs!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hi Brittany,

Your labored breathing could be due to the enlarged uterus pressing up on your diaphragm, or your asthma acting up!.!.!. or the preeclampsia and hypertension causing congestion in your lungs!.!.!.

I really think you should call your doctor or go to the hospital immediately!.!.!. preeclampsia not controlled can lead to eclampsia!. Good luck and God blessWww@Answer-Health@Com
