Question...Flu-shot/Newbo... ba!

Question: Question!.!.!.Flu-shot/Newborn baby!?
Hello! Soon we will be adding a new addition to the family, my little brother! (cheer) But he is going to be sick, recovering from a heart surgery and my stepmother is in a high risk pregnancy right now; and the doctor recommended to keep him healthy after hes home is for all of us to get a flu shot (well the baby would get normal infant vaccines!.!.whatever they may be)
Well I am highly sensitive (not allergic) to medication, if I take a half dose of non drowsy tylenol it knocks me out for about 6-9 hours, the last few times I had the flu shot my fever was above 102 degrees!.!.So the solution is "You'll just get your shot on the weekend" Sadly, my flu lasts about a week!.
My question is; During this period will I be contagious!?
and wouldn't it just be safer for both me and my little brother if I am contagious to just wear a mask!? I really can't afford to miss school!.!.!.and not to mention a 102-104 degree fever is absolutely no fun!.
Thank you so much!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
if you truly get a fever of 102 after each flu shot - then you are truly truly rare!. I've never seen anyone in my life where this is the case!.

But assuming that is true - realize that this reaction is only your immune system reacting to the vaccine, it is NOT the flu, and you are NOT contagious with anything while you have that fever!. Having said that, I have to state that it is much more likely you had another viral infection the other time that you had your shot and experienced the fever!.

If you do NOT get your flu shot, then you are a risk of serious illness and death to that child!. You should stay away from him until May (seriously)!. Most definitely do not come within 3 feet of him if you have any runny nose, fever, cough, or sore throat!.

YOu can also choose to get the NASAL flu vaccine - you may have better luck with that product!. It is only for healthy people aged 2 - 49 years who are not pregnant!. With this product there IS a live virus, that you will shed for 7 days , so you would not want to be around sick people for 1 week after getting it!.

I'm glad you're really being thoughful about preventing harm to your brother! Likewise I get my shot every single year - not to protect myself, but to protect my family, and all my patients, who count on me NOT to give them this deadly virus!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
