When you go to an allergist, can they test for a gluten allergy?!

Question: When you go to an allergist, can they test for a gluten allergy!?
If so, do you have to specifically ask for that test!? Or do they just do it automatically with all the other things that they test for!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
They can test for an allergy to gluten and you can ask if that is one of the things included but if you aren't allergic to it but are intolerant, the test won't pick up that you are intolerant!.

Allergy is different to intolerance!. In allergies, the body mistakenly treats a non-harmful substance as harmful and mobilises the immune system to contain the "threat" by creating anti-histamines!. Intolerance doesn't involve the immune system and it's a lot harder to track down what you are intolerant to!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

They can test for gluten allergy, but I don't think that's very common!. Some people are intolerant of gluten but it's not an allergy, it's an autoimmune disorder of the small intestine called celiac disease (or coeliac disease)!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

They should, or just visit a doctor and they should also be able to give you a test!. Just ask for the TTG test!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Its a blood test they do, I am actually going to get that done in about 10 minutes!! Www@Answer-Health@Com

Ask for the test!. It's a blood test!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
