Chicken pox. Danger of catching in immunocompromised?!

Question:

Chicken pox. Danger of catching in immunocompromised?

I have recently had a splenectomy and am also on steroids. I visited family today and was only told after I'd been there a while that one of the kids has chicken pox. They think he is no longer contagious as most of the spots have scabbed over and I stayed away anyway and left as soon as was polite AND I am 50% sure I had chicken pox as a child.
Am I probably fine or am I possibly at risk because of my splenectomy and immunosuppresion?

Answers:

no, chicken pocs are only contageous for the first 3 days. if they are going away now then i wouldn't worry about catching them if your immune system is weaken from surgery then you can easily catch the common cold so it wouldn't make a difference were you are. I wouldn't worry about getting the chicken pocs because it isn't likely. and if you are worried about getting sick why are you around other people after having surgry. you stay away from corwds of people for 5-7 days after surgery to prevent risks of infections. didn't your doctor tell you this when you were released?
