Question: Does getting your tonsils removed change your voice?

So im getting my tonsils removed next week and I'm wondering if my voice will change. I've been told my voice sounds like snotty, kinda like I'm always sick and it's really slow. I don't think my voice is actually like that so I'm hoping if I get them taken out my voice will sound better. Also if not what could be affecting my voice? Is it my weight issues? Please help! Thank you ! :)
