Are all cancer cells the same? Why do they manifest in different places?!

Question: Are all cancer cells the same? Why do they manifest in different places?
Why do they sometimes stay isolated in one spot? Why do they sometimes spread?

Answers:

Every cell type in your body can in principle develop into its own type of cancer. And we know approximately 200 different types of cancers. How they spread in the body has already been explained by the other answerers.

It might be of interest to know, that there is great variation between individual cancer cells within the same cancer. The cells in my avatar are cancer cells seen through a microscope. Hopefully it is possible to see how different they look from each other. If not, I believe it is possible to see a larger photo on my "pulse-page" if it has any interest.

No.

There are lots of different types of cancer cells.

Some types are more invasive that others.
Some grow faster than others.
Some react to hormones.

I have attached a link that shows some basic information, do your own homework.
One link talks about cancer in general the other about different cell types.

What Tarkarri said, and no they aren't all the same. Lung cancer is from cells of the lung and so on...they manifest in different places by travelling by bloodstream, lymph system, whatever and multiply at nutrient rich places like kidneys, liver, brain... Brain cancer isn't known to manifest in different places because of the blood/brain barrier.

i had brain cancer
