Question: This might sound like a naive question but..?
Answers:
you need to have sex with an infected person to contract any type of STDs
if a person has had sex with multiple partners and they were clean (and you definately knew that) you definately wouldnt have an STD
This is a good and important question.
The answer is: Each person that you personally sleep with - you are also sleeping (in a sense, with regard to STD's) every single person they have ever slept with, AND every person THAT person has slept with and so on).
And believe me - there are many, many who do not admit to having an STD for fear they will lose you (sick-thinking and ultimately selfish - these "gifts" of STDs are for your entire life).
I believe it's down to 1 in 3 people in the U.S.A. now have an STD, Herpes being one of the largest.
It can be passed even if the herpes are not there, especially with women as they can be hidden inside, with men, they can be shedding the virus. It's an AWFUL way to live (believe me, I have had herpes since I was 20 and I'm 51 now). They slow down over time, but you have to tell every single person you become intimate with before becoming ultimately intimate (including oral sex) that you have this disease.
If you don't already know, the person with the disease can actually be sued if they do not tell their partner they have the disease and there have been many, many cases in this regard.
NOT a naive question... a very IMPORTANT question and good for you for asking it!!
I highly recommend keeping protection with you at all times. Even if it's not exactly as great as you'd like it, it can save you from a lifetime of despair.
