Answers:
Yes. Swollen lymph nodes in the neck are common when fighting a bad cold. Your immune system fills with extra white blood cells(the ones that fight infection) and the result is that some of them end up congregating in the lymph nodes in the area of the infection. They should go back down a few weeks after your illness is over.
I don’t know which gland you are referring to. Your thyroid should have nothing to do with this. You could have an infection if you are referring to the salivary gland, but does sound like a cold. Sounds nothing like cancer.
