Epilepsy medication?!

Question: Epilepsy medication?
For 13 years, I have been getting what some doctors think are partial seizures for 13 years now. However, some doctors think they are not seizures and seem happy to class them as dizzy spells even though I do NOT get or feel dizzy and the fact that I was born with a condition that almost always causes seizures, especially partials..
What happens is when I get these "seizures", my arms and legs move uncontrollably, and one or both eyes close. My sister says I look like my Mum's boyfriend just before he collapses from an epileptic fit.
I don't drink or eat anything with artificial sweeteners in anymore as the seizures greatly incease if I do. But I still get them a lot, some days they happen so much, I literally can't do anything.
I have been waiting far too long for treatment (I live in the UK, England and currently attend Hope Hospital, though it is now called Salford Royal).
I have seriously considered buying Tegretol online even though half the websites are probably fake drugs, I can't take this any more.
I have an appointment with my GP tomorrow, can he ignore the neurologists and prescribe me something to help?

Answers:

Yes your GP can ignore the neurologist.
He sent you there to get a neurology opinion.
If that is to be blunt, a load of rubbish and both you and your GP agree on that he can prescribe.
He could suggest you see a different neurologist but if you prefer GP treatment and trust your GP then tell him that.
If you fell like crying in his surgery don't hold it in, he needs to know how you feel.
Please do not buy Tegretol on line that drug isn't necessarily the correct one for you and it can have some nasty side effects.
I am Scottish and no longer go to see specialists as both myself and my GP agree it's better to be treated by someone who knows you.
For tests yes for treatment no.

Your neurologists is probably reluctant to give you anti-seizure medication because they all tend to have major side-effects. Ask your GP but he will probably refer you back to the neurologists. Just be persistent and tell them you can't handle it any longer and need something to help.
