I grew up in the sixties and... Am I guaranteed to get cancer?!
Question: I grew up in the sixties and... Am I guaranteed to get cancer?
Answers:
Gill that's almost my life lol..I didn't grow up in the 60s but I went through childhood in them. I remember a brokem thermometer and my sister playing with the mercury...That's kinda when all the "bad for you" prepackaged foods really came out and I remember potato chip sandwiches lol.. My dad would take me fishing and he'd use an empty coke bottle and fill it with river water for me to drink. I have brain cancer, but my none of my older sisters do. My oldests siblings had kids by the early 70's and neither of them have cancer. My older sister recently had surgery to remove her colon because if diverticulitis.. With 5 from my family and only me getting cancer, I think the 60's were pretty safe..
no, not at all. i did the same things. mercury isn,t dangerous unless ingested in minute quantities. then the body can,t get rid of it. mercury vapors would be a health hazard. the cyclamate scare was just that. the whole cancer/cyclamate business was basically a scam. i drank it by the gallon every year for years. there was actually a retraction of the bogus cancer scare printed in newspapers in the 80,s. i read it. it,s what you,re doing now that will affect you as you age. i avoid soda. i use sweet10. it,s saccarhin now. i prefer spam and beef salami to bologna. i never eat chips. i,m 64, and pretty damn healthy. i also use other artificial sweeteners.
Nothing in life is guaranteed but you have raised your chances of getting cancer by doing what you did above. Mercury does not cause cancer, it causes brain problems.
No one is guaranteed to get cancer.
