something to do with "dead" toe nails?!
Question: Something to do with "dead" toe nails?
Answers:
Are they thick and yellow? Well, you should see a podiatrist. I understand that is expensive if you are American, (I 'm Aussie)
You have to be really clean. 1. cut as much of the nail off as you can. 2. Soak your feet in hot soapy water, then in 10 litres, 2 galleons? of hot water with a cup of 4% bleach and soak for a bit, if it hurts, take out and rinse, or you can use potassium permanagnate, a purple disinfectant.
If you can afford it,, there are over the counter treatments, but you must follow the instructions exactly. Usually, you have to paint the nails twice a week, but people forget....
The biggest problem is cross infection: Wash your bedlinen, your socks, in HOT water. Lots of soap, bleach and your trainers too, other shoes wipe out with white vinegar. If you have carpets, the fungus spores hide in it. Lots of vaccumming every day. Scrub your bathroom with bleach.
Cleanliness is the answer! But it will take a year for the diseased nail to grow out. So it is a long-term effort. There is no magic treatment. Just persistant cleanliness
I'm a podiatrist.
