could be a minor sore/ulcer, these can be caused by certain foods or hormonal changes.
If the pain becomes too intense or the spot and the pain lasts for several weeks you have to see a doctor. If you get painful sores in your mouth often you should also go.
you should avoid eating hard foods and putting pressure on that spot.
there are over the counter medications you can take but they are mainly symptom relievers (they reduce inflammation, relieve pain but don't treat the underlying cause), so you would have to see a doctor to find out why you have this spot and what it really is (assuming it doesn't go away).
I sometimes get sores not on my tongue though, usually in my mouth on the sides, they are white holes that are very painful but none of them last longer than 2-3 weeks.
