Can Hepatitis C be transferred through normal intercourse?!
Question: Can Hepatitis C be transferred through normal intercourse?
Answers:
Hep C can be transmitted through sex, but sexual transmission of Hep C is very rare, because in order for transmission to occur, there has to be bleeding.
Hep C is most commonly transmitted through sharing needles for drug use, and through sharing razors, toothbrushes, tattoo needles, tattoo ink, and piercings. It is not transmitted through saliva or casual contact.
I do Hep C education, work with a hep C specialist.
No it is, or can be sexually transmitted. Heterosexual or homosexual activity with multiple sexual partners has been clearly identified as a mode of transmission, but the exact risk is unknown.
GP for more years than I care to remember
It is possible but very unlikely to transfer the virus during intercourse. A study I read a few years back had it at a very low risk but I believe it was between long-term heterosexual relationships.
From what I have read it could, probably wouldn't but why take a chance, there's other things to worry about, use protection.
