Do you need to take antibiotics for whooping cough?!
Question: Do you need to take antibiotics for whooping cough?
is it really necessary?
Answers:
Whooping cough is pertussis. Treatment, early treatment, is an essential part of managing this illness. Antibiotic therapy is started even before sputum culture results come back if the symptoms are unmistakable. Even family and close contacts of a pertussis case should receive antibiotic prophylaxis. Pertussis is very contagious and it's no secret that infants can and have died because of it.
