Gym and weight lifting?!


Question: Im about to go to the gym for the first time for weight lifting and I'm a bit nervous.
Any one have tips on do's and dont's?
Also, im not doing any heavy lifting, so should i wear gloves and a wrist strap? thanks

1. The "No Pain, No Gain" mantra is ignorant and retarded
2. Take your time, start with light weights
3. Ensure you get a full range of motion with every exercise while observing proper breathing techniques
4. If working out intensely, make sure you ingest at least 110% of your body weight in grams of protien every day (if you weigh 200 lbs, you need 220 grams of protien if you work out intensely)
5. Do your research on different exercises that target various muscle groups then decide what program works for your body
6. Don't set specific days for working muscle groups (you're body will know that Mondays are "chest days" and muscle development will reach a plateu....basically change thins up)
6. Practice gym discipline - sometimes it really sucks, but the first step is getting to the gym....just get your *** to the gym

wow ur weak and u must be a nerd. Im 14 130lbs and I bench 140. Maybe its because I already play varsity football for my HS.

First of all Jordan V. I'm surprised they all kids at your small frame to even play on the team (must be on a losing team).
OK before you go and lift and everything you need to learn how to lift correctly (form). You should study up on that before you lift because you might get hurt. For the gloves and wrist straps its all up to you for comfort
