Do you "multitask" your muscles while walking??!

Question: I walk 4 miles 7 days a week. I've found that if I walk with a long stride, it really works my butt and all of my thigh. If I sort of "straddle" the white line on the side of the road, with my feet further apart, and swing my hips, it really works on the upper inner thigh. The spot where your leg connects with the groin. (just don't let anyone see you walk this way cause you look like you've crapped your pants) I don't do a fast walk, I'd rather do a "faster than a stroll", but slower than a speed walk. I like to feel the muscles that are being used. Does anyone elso do anything while they walk that is interesting??

My walking group and I like to walk in "intervals". We'll stroll to warm up, then we speed walk while pumping our arms for 5-10 minutes, then a slower pace, then speed up for 10-15 mins., etc.. We alternate between taking long strides and then taking shorter steps while swaying our hips. I like to pretend that there's a plate on my head that I'm trying to balance. Yes, I know this sounds weird (LOL!) but if you concentrate on keeping your head and neck as still as possible, and walk fast without bobbing up and down, you can really build up a sweat! Does that sound "interesting" enough? ;)

nope

When i walk I sway my arms. This builds strong bones in your biceps. It also keeps a good beat in your feet.

ya i swing my arms too

Yes i walk to college and it is up and down hills and i can feel the effect on my butt. When walking up stairs try and use the very front of your foot on the edge of the stairs and you will feel your calves stretching.

my sister bounces while she walks, but don't try it because you look like you're trying to be a frog! lol
