Whats the science behind calories?!

Question: How does it work and when is one eating too much...I just don't get the logic behind it.

Answers: How does it work and when is one eating too much...I just don't get the logic behind it.

The basics: 1 gram of fat takes 9 calories to burn. 1 gram of protein takes 4 calories. 1 gram of carbohydrate also takes 4 calories. 1 pound of fat takes 3500 calories to burn.
Your body uses up carbohydrates as the first source of fuel (the first 3 minutes of exercise) and continues to use carbohydrates thereafter. Carbohydrates are the primary anaerobic fuel. Fats are the fuel for aerobic glycolysis, primarily in endurance exercise. Protein is only used when the body is in starvation mode or robbed of the other sources (hence why people say Atkins diet is horrible).

The more muscle mass you have, the higher your metabolism. The higher your resting metabolism, the more calories you burn at rest. You burn more after a workout so working out many times a day in quick intervals (less than 15 minutes) will maximize how many calories you burn.

calories are in food so when the food in your body it stores those calories. Calories take up space so they expand your body. Healthier foods dont store as much calories. And some calories dont take up much space so they are more healthy for you.

hope i helped!

You're eating too much if you feel full. you should feel satisfied, not full. second helpings are inhealthy. thats overeating. if you;re extremely active you can afford to do that but its still not a good idea. your better off sticking to healthy foods rather that junk even if they have the same calorific value. buy the book skinny *****. everything you need to no!
