Stop with the cereal bars they tend to be overfilled sugar bars with unlimited supplies of fat, sugar, and chemicals and limited value.

Here's how to eat healthy. Eat fresh. The fresher the main ingredients the more likely you are to eat correct foods and amounts. Generally if you look at most diets Fresh fruits and vegetables account for a very limited amount of points/carbs/diet overloads, but provide most of the nutrients. With that fish you could have eaten ten slices of tomato and it would have been fine.

Second variety. While an apple a day is good, mixing your fruits and vegetables is best. And try to find the rare fruits and veggies, they tend to really pack in the nutrients without packing on the pounds. I don't suggest celery unless you really like it because nutritionally it's pretty much useless compared to other veggies. However eat it if you don't get other veggies. And generally steaming vs frying veggies is a help.

Also cutting back on the fatty milk is good. While you may not like the taste of skim. They have shown that the nurtitional loss from fat to skim is so limited that you recover it in most of the other foods you consume. And if skim is not your thing then find real chocolate chocolate milk which is pretty good for you.

While white rice is nutritionally neutral, wild rice is much better for you.

Here's what I'd add today---fruits, veggies, fruit salads, veggie salads. A tablespoon of almond slivers. Generally keep the number of cereal bars down to none or if you must as a meal replacement. A pita sandwhich with leftover ham wouldn't be bad, but generally avoid cold cuts unless again they are cut directly from the original meat source.

You can also add beans to the list of healthy. Personally I'd add a small garden salad with carrots and shredded cheddar covered in a light olive oil and vinegar mix almonds slivers on top, maybe some paprika Then I'd make myself black bean no meat chili. Or a black bean soup. Then I'd top that off with a low sugar ice cream covered in dark chocolate or bitter chocolate.

That's all taken from a healthy diet cookbook I generally use.

Fruits are healthy for you

Good snacks are bananas, yogurt, rice cakes, any raw fruits and vegetables, and oatmeal.

Veggies. Yoplait Yogurt is Yummy.
Also Try Excersising too.

You should be eating at least 1200 calories a day or else you run the risk of putting your body into starvation mode where it stores fats and you gain weight. A great snack I enjoy is mandarin oranges with cottage cheese. Celery and peanut butter is also very good. Make sure you are getting enough fiber in your diet and drink plenty of water. Do cardio everyday and work out to keep your body healthy and strong.

First rememer that you are only 13. It is always god to eat healthy, but at your age I would not worry to much. Unless your doctor has suggested a diet don't bother counting everything. You are to young for that. Just try to keep a well balanced diet, avoiding lots of sugar and junk foods, but even those are okay at times, just limit them. If you are serious you need to talk to your doctor, he/she can help you find th right solution. At 13 you should not have to count calories and fat grams. Just be smart don't take everything to extremes. dieting is great if done right, but at 13 you need to at least call your doctor. If you do it wrong it can hurt you.

Any kind of fruit or vegetable. When I want a healthy snack I eat celery and peanut butter. It's really good!

By the way, cereal & cereal bars aren't particularly healthy. Read the package, they contain large amounts of sugar, and as we all know eating alot of sugar isn't really that good for you.

heres a simple trick for a guide to how much of each type of food to eat. hold out ur hand, ur proteins should be no larger than ur palm. next, make a fist-that equals the amount of carbohydrates. next, make an o with ur thumb n first finger-thats the amount of fats. & last open ur hand-ur 5 fingers show how many fruits n veggies per meal. eat five times a day, 3 regular n 2 snacks-it keeps ur metabolism & energy constat. drink soy milk vanilla flavored-it has fiber & actually tastes good especially in a good cereal like Cheerios for cholesterol. stay away from man-made products. especially refined, smoked,& other additives. dont use sugar-look on internet for natural sugar-Stevia. drink 8-10 glasses of water daily. Dr. Phil has a book out for a healthy diet, also check out Dr. Perricone who has a daily plan of what to eat & a workbook. dont count calories, use a tape measure to check progress because muscle is heavier than fat. exercise 30 mins. daily. take a multi-vitamin daily & 3 glasses of milk. ur doing well so far & if u can afford it buy organic items. yogurt with acidofilous helps. no carbonated beverages. for candy u can have peppermint, spearmint, with chocolate-it raises mood. like Andies mints & Tollhouse mint with chocolate chips. dont obsess about ur wt. a good show to watch is "The Biggest Loser" for hints n tips. eat turkey in place of ground beef, use for sandwich slices too but dont get smoked-too much salt. use sea salt. use canola added oils n olive oil. stay away from beef. dont fry, use butter not margerine. good luck, hope this helps...
