Sit-ups really do no good for abs they mostly work hip flexors. Do crunches instead. Here are some more ab exercises http://www.netfit.co.uk/abdominals-web-s...

It isn't easy but your on the right track. Do 15 minutes of abs after your soccer practice or after you go running. 25 sit ups a night is too slow if any progress. Also make sure to hit all the abdominal muscles not just straight crunches. Add some twists and maybe a weight to your routine.
I found great success in doing my crunches and ab work (along with 30 minutes cardio, since spot reducing doesn't work) with an exercise ball. They're not too expensive. They're a great investment.
