Elliptical vs treadmill?!

Question: Hi everybody!

I do cardio almost everyday for 50 minutes, followed by weight lifting in order to lose 9 pounds. Sometimes I use the treadmill, sometimes I use the elliptical.

Which method of cardio is more effective....the elliptical or the treadmill?

Thank you for your time! =)

The elliptical is more effective for many reasons. With elliptical, you have the option to use your whole body for the workout unlike the treadmill where the majority of the work is done by your legs. Also there is relatively no impact on your legs, giving you the advantage of being able to run farther and more regularly without having those sore and achy legs.

i say elliptical because you use your arms too. i think you burn more calories too.

I'd have to say the treadmill. The ellipical is better for working muscles

I think a calorie is a calorie. Do you notice one has a higher burn rate?

I think the elliptical is better because I believe it is more movement. It works the legs as well as the arms. I used to alternate from going forwards and then backwards really works the buttocks. From my experience I only exercised with an elliptical and lost 30 lbs. very quickly with a healthy diet. I hope it works for you! Walking is also great, just turn up your ipod and walk for an hour.

both are really goo, but i say treadmill..this is cuz u sorta move more on the treadmill..u tend to kinda "bounce" when u run as well...but both are almost equally good!!

Do interval training on the treadmill while having it on an incline. That will cause you to burn a few calories.

i like using the elliptical just because it gets pressure off my knees and the rest of my joints. and also in my own experience, it keeps me in a more constant pace which i like. Plus it keeps my butt and things more in shape!
But I do sometimes like running on the treadmill. I guess it's a personal preference. but if you're ankle feels weak, or any of your joints, try the elliptical or running under water.

It really depends on what you are doing on each.

I prefer the treadmill but my favorite is the stairmill.
