Cardiovascular workouts for people with weak hearts?!


Question: Cardiovascular work outs for people who don't exercise frequently but needs to strengthen their weakened heart. My body in constant pain in the back and knees and I get heart palpitations frequently and chest pains. I'm suppose to start exercizing more to and my doc suggested a swimming center, but I can't aford it. I need to start slow, but I don't know what exercises I can do.

What can I start with and how long should I do it?

What can I start with and how long should I do it?

Walking. Its free, you can start slow & it works a fair few muscles & gets the blood pumping. If you can, try staying on the flat for a few weeks, just to make it easier.
Do it as long as it feels comfortable so I would suggest doing blockies around your house so you can get back quickly if you feel any discomfort. You will know when you feel stronger & capeable of going a bit futher.
