Am I a candidate for Gastric Bypass Surgery?!

Question: I am 42 years old.
I am 5'3" and weigh 188 lbs.
My face, neck and back are bloated.
My abdomen and stomach are huge.
I look pregnant. But, I am not.
I have a big appetite, and small portions leave me hungry.
I have tried Weight Watchers and took diet supplements. (Neither worked for long).
It is hard to walk and I tire easily.
I have Kaiser Permanente medical insurance.

Please help!

No, you are probably not a candidate.
The candidates for gastric bypass are usually morbidly obese. You are not.

Just take small steps. A light 15 minute walk, grapes and strawberries instead of chips and cookies. Tea and juice instead of soda. Its hard work, but you can do it! Don't give up.

yes

Maybe lap band. Not nearly as complicated and has far fewer side effects.

Not sure if you qualify. Have to check with your insurance company about that.

i would guess not, unless you have other medical problems that the weight is causing,if so your Dr. will have to make that decision.but actually you are not that over weight, about 50 lbs.?get advice from your Dr.he will be able to direct you to a support group.good luck!
