Pretty much everyday of my 57 and a half years. And I'm still fat. Obviously, practice does not make perfect.
I did once, but is not like I really needed to but I wanted to lose 5 pounds I lost like 3 and I thought it was too much because my jeans didn't fit anymore and I didn't like it so I stopped it

That's my stock answer to issues of being overweight.
No, I've never really dieted but when I noticed the scales as a result of a routine visit at the doctor's office showing that my normal lifetime average of 200-210 lbs increased to 235, I became conscience of the need to make ammends for sittin at the computer 20+ hours per day. That was in October 07. The day after Thanksgiving, 3rd Thursday in Nov 07, I realized after ingesting a fabulous meal of roast turkey, stuffing, gravey, corn, potatoes, yams, green beans, salad, beer, icecream & whipped cream, I really didn't need to eat on Friday. It was the Thanksgiving meal that I started to entertain the idea that if I only ate Sundays, Tuesdays, Thursdays & Saturdays, I'd probably stop escalating at such an embarrassing rate. Adding a regime of calisthenics would probably git me back to my condition in '67 when I was in the Army. Well I failed miserably in pushing myself to do a day of ANY calisthenics but engaged in a routine of two 40 minute hikes 3 days per week! I lost 30 lbs by Feb 8th without any troubles what so ever but I'd NEVER call it a diet!
Best wishes~
