Why should I stop eating sweets? I need good reasons?!


Question: I've been eating enormous amounts of sweets every day as long as I can remember. Sometimes a day passes and I don't eat anything except chocolate and other sweet stuff..I really want to get rid of this awful habit. I don't have problems with other junk food..other than this I eat healthy food, fruits and veggies, but still...I don't think it's healthy to eat so much sugar every day. Can anyone give me some reasons that can actually convince me to stop eating so many sweets?
Also I'm 17 and I'm thin and always have been. I'm also active and drink lots of water..but lately I've started to notice some fat on my lower back and some cellulite (yeah I wonder why.....)...

Its all about the glycemic index. Sugar has serious health drawbacks.

if you stop eating sweets, it won't ruin your teeth as much

It would keep your teeth healthy if you stopped eating sweets, you could have normal cholesterol when you get older. Diabetes can occur eventually

There are health reasons, like Diabetes and unwanted weight in the long run. You may be skinny now, but later on it can catch up with you. You dont have to stop eating them all together, just in moderation.

One good reason is that you will get diabetes. Another good reason is that you will end up with serious health problems and be overweight.

by the time you hit 25 youll have really bad teeth cos i know a boy that lived on sweets for years and when he hit 26 he had to have every tooth taken out and have all false teeth put in stead like am old man uuuurrrhhhh!! try to limit sweets to 2_3 a week so your not giving them up completely good luck xxx

to save your teeth, of course! Do you know that archeologist found bones of people who lived in England in the year 1000 and they don't have a single cavity! It's at the age when people didn't use any toothbrushes, tooth paste did not exist, as well as dentists! It's because sugar was extremely expensive and rare, and they ate fruit as sweeteners, and wild honey! Not a single cavity, no need for a dentist! Plus, you know, they have NOTHING useful in them, it's empty calories.

yeah anyway my suggestion, startwith one meal a day with no Sweets (during lunch at school for suggestion)

and our hungry eat a piece of fruit, and then allow your self if still hungry to eat a piece(won't be as hungry if at all ,and won't eat as much

drink more water for the cellulite and following a sweet reducton plan(don't plan to get rid of it completely )

By ploughing your body with sweets you will end up with a huge sugar level drop, the more you eat sweets, the higher the surge in your body and the bigger your sugar crash. It's a complete addiction, if you go cold turkey you will realise how much sugar you are feeding your body. Make a plan with short term goals to redurce your sugar intake and then start to change your eating by adding fruits to swap the sweetness. It will take a long time but you'll get there. I used to eat 3 bars of chocolate straight, now though I plan my meals and keep my sugar level in check with something sweet every now and then, raisins, dates, apples etc. Hope this helps.xxx
