A question for all anorexics?!

Question: 1-for how long did you have anorexia?
2-how long did your recovery take?
3-how long did it take you to start feeling normal again eg. full of energy, warm hands, concentrated again, etc.

I had severe anorexia for almost 2 years before I went into treatment. I met with a therapist and nutritionist for 1/2 a year and it didn't do much, I was hospitalized for two weeks and came out a new person. And believe me, recovery is worth the pain. It's the hardest thing I've ever had to do, but it also made me who I am today (and I am fully recovered). It depends how intensive your recovery process is, but hospitalization is always the best (it takes WAY less time, is WAY more effective, and probably won't cost you much at all thanks to insurance). You will start to feel better fast, and you'll notice every little improvement. Practically right after you start eating the right amount of food consistently, you will get your energy and concentration back, and your body will become warmer as you put more into it! Believe me, it's worth it! Good luck.

1-um.. i realized i was anorexic about 5 months ago.. but i read in a journal ive had problems with body image for 2 years, and ive been having dieting problems for about 11 months..
2-i told someone i was anorexic a month ago, and ive gotten worse... but maybe its part of recovery? im going to therapist.
3-well, im getting used to it.. i dont feel like im starving anymore, i just feel a little weird... and for the rest of pains, its just part of your day now.

I think that you should confront your parents with the problem. They can help you get into a recovery program because it is always harder to get through really tough things like that on your own. You can also go to your friends for help. When you go to a recovery program, they are able to help you with everything you need and you get to feeling better as long as you cooperate. I think there is a book that will help you. It is called Stick Figure, and it is a true story by loir gottleib about her battle with anorexia, and how she coped with it, and eventually got into the hospital and realized that she was happy with her apperance, and she realized how much what she was doing was hurting her. I think it will help you a lot. Good luck! I hope you can get some help.

1. I had it bad for 2 years but I have had it for 5 years total.
2. I've been better for the last 2 years, but still suffer from it.
3. Idk...soon as I start eating more? Well I still feel kid all the time, and have lower energy then I should.. but I do feel "better" than when I was really bad.

It you really want to get better you should get help. I don't think it is something you can completely get better on your own. I should get help, but I have tons more control over it now, but I am still miserable. I am afraid to get help, because I don't want to ever be fat.. but I know I would be much happier if I did.. and I encourage everyone to get help..and to be stronger then I am about it.

1. im not sure how long i've been struggling with eating disorders. ive nvr been hardcore not eating anything whatsoever, but i only nibble and eat things with empty calories. much easier.
2.lately ive been eating whatever i want and letting me indulge a little, it's hard though. you have to tell yourself "if im going to eat this cookie i have to do the crunches tonight!"
3.since ive been going back and forth its not been like exact time. but whenever i do feel down i avoid mirrors and tell one of my guy friends i feel fat and they are normally like "NO! ur gorgous! and super skinny!" its just good to hear.
