hmmm He sounds like a disease!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

obesity is considered a disease, because drug companies lobbied the FDA so they could sell drugs to fat people in order to "treat" the "disease!."

being fat has nothing to do with a bodies deficiency of a certain medical drug!. it's asinine!.

the FDA is corrupt, and many FDA board memebers are on the payrolls of major drug companies!.

however, being fat isn't always a choice!. "james" may have other health problems i!.e!. diabetes or something that contribute to his being fat!. genetics also play a role!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

There's a lot more to it than "eating lots and playing video games", but it's not a disease!.
What does playing Warcraft have to do with it!? Lol, what if a person plays 3 hours of it in a night, but exercises for an hour after!?

A lot of things contribute to weight, and while a lot of it is choice, some of it isn't!.
a) Genetics!. Among many other things, this'll affect the distributing of weight on your body (when fat is collected around the midsection, or an "apple" figure, it's a lot more noticeable!.)
b) Addiction!. Some think of addiction as a disease, and yes, there is such a thing as food addiction!. It's as real as alcohol or drug addiction, and is another means of coping!.

Plus!.!.!. you're adding "hairy", "slob", and "dandruff covered" to make this kid sound gross and accountable!. But not all over weight people are such :) Your friend definitely sounds to blame for his own problems, though!.

As for why he says that, perhaps he's ashamed and doesn't wanna admit he's to blame for his unhealthy lifestyle!.
Unless he's got a food addiction, or some other problems, counselling seems unneccesary :)

edit: Those are all just possible reasons why "some" people say that, like you asked!. ;) In his case, he's obviously just in denial and ashamed!. Not a lot of people are responsible to own up to their decisions, unfortunately!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Coming from a girl that spent her life being overweight, when I was a kid I didn't know better!. How could I!? I ate what I was given!.
At 23, I am sick of hearing this "obesity is a disease" bullshit!. It gives people an excuse to be unhealthy, without ever properly doing what they need to do!.
Every single person out there can eat under the calories they need in a day and exercise to lose weight!. If you can't, there's something wrong with your thyroid and you need to seek medical attention!. END OF STORY!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

it is a disease!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
