Can focusing on one arm more than the other while working out be harmful?!

Question:

Can focusing on one arm more than the other while working out be harmful?

I don't really know why, but for years whenever I work out I always focus more on my right arm than my left. Just now when I was working out I noticed for the first time just how much stronger my right arm is compared to my left arm. Even when I flex my arms the difference is clearly obvious. I know the obvious thing to do is to just start lifting more with my left arm, but is my current status harmful in any way to my body? Is having one arm much more stronger than the other harmful in any way for my body?

Answers:

the main problem would be if you were working on one muscle group and ignoring its counter part. For example, if you just lift your biceps for your arms and tend to ignore the triceps... one muscle (the bigger one, the bicep) will probably pull harder and possibley cause injury to your arm overall. With your immediate situation I don't see any real serious harm, but it is always good to be balanced while working out, try doing excersizes that focus on using both arms at the same time. I mean you wouldn't want to end up like that lady in the powerade commercial with one arm way bigger than the other, thats just gross haha. good luck
